BOKATOR was a father of all ALL KUN KHMER. The western word BOX came from the Khmer word BOK = BOK A TOR means HIT A LION that carved on the stone wall of Khmer temples over 1000 years ago.

ya i dig, but i hope you know where i’m coming from with the values of practicing and wearing your own traditional garments. Why should these beauty be placed over in favor of the “modern”, are our styles are not classy enough for the 21th? I see Hindus wearing Hindu clothes, Burmese wearing Burmese garments, no reason why it is out of fashion for Viet to wear Ao Dia or Khmer to wear Sampots and other things that we wear right?

Kbach Jabab! or Khmer wrestling, was the most boredom of Khmer Martial Arts. Alot of the old tymer prefer Pradal Serey, Kbach Kun Boran, or in some villages refer to Kbach Kun Bokatao(Bokator).
We are from Battambang, Martial Arts capitol of Cambodia. Before the war, Battambang also has its own ring which hold many fights and events. My family Martial Arts teaches the 12 Mae’s of Boran, Mae Bokatao was number 8! Previous to hand to hand combat, Bokatao was the two short sticks.

Bokatao shorts stick, hence the name it was given” KBach Dombong Bokatao” ..By the way so glad we have these lost footages, keep them coming.

I like the way everyone dresses. Now people dress in jeans and all western clothes. Cambodia loses so much charm by westernizing. I think we should westernize in our modern thinking but should protect culture and custom.

I prefer to watch this over ufc. Ufc entrance suck and too many beer drinker fighters.
June 29th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
It is any difference on: Khun Khmer, Bokator eller Pradal Serey?
June 29th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
